The proud owners of this semi-detached Edwardian period property in Chester were interested in replacing the original timber windows, not just because of the poor energy efficiency single-glazed units of this kind are known for, but because of the overall maintenance costs they had to pay. However, as the windows play such an important part in bringing together the charm and look of the residence, it was crucial that they found the best replacement windows they could. Modern-styled UPVC windows were really not an option, because they would look out of place and that would have a negative impact on the whole property.
The owners visited our showroom though and were very impressed with just how authentic and close to the original design our Evolution wood effect windows in Chester.
This kind of property is what the Evolution Storm 2 windows and doors were for, with the windows having many features built into them to recreate the look and feel of timber without the need for it to be repainted regularly, as is the case with natural timber. Some stunning features of these Evolution Storm 2 wood effect windows in Chester include the Georgian glazing bars, traditional butt joints and the white wooden grain casement with black wooden grain frame. The whole look was brought together with the use of traditional looking hardware such as the cast iron peg stays and monkey tail handles.
At the back of the house, the owners had an orangery added which had a design and style similar to the property so that there was a cohesiveness between the two buildings. They opted for the Evolution French doors with cast iron-effect furniture to match with the windows to the front of the property, as well as providing a connection between the main home and the orangery with. Similarly, the Storm 2 door from Evolution to the front with the same furniture and a beautiful etched glass property number breathed new life into this traditional house in Chester.
