What Style of Windows to Choose for a Bay Window?

Windows, redefined.

Bay windows can be a great feature within your home. Whether it be increasing valuable floor space, enhancing your view, or just letting lots of light flood into your room, it really is a great addition to upgrade to a stylish bay window.

They can also really enhance the architectural interest to the front of your property as well increasing kerb appeal. Also, bay windows featuring at the back of a property in a dining room, can naturally look to widen the garden view.

At Evolution Windows we get very excited about Bay windows! So, stick with us to hear a few of our thoughts on Bay windows and what style might suit your needs.

Bay Window Styles & Designs

Bay windows come in many shapes and sizes. Box Bay windows are shaped like a rectangular box with flat sides and front and consist of 3 window panels. Canted Bay windows are probably the most common window you might see, similar to a Box Bay with having 3 glass panes but with the angled side panes.

Then there are more curved bay window styles. A Bow Bay window has a gentle semi-circle curve and has 4 glass panes and there is a Circle Bay window that is more of a definite semi-circular structure and can have up to 5 window panels.

White Storm Bay Windows

Window Styles

Both our Flush casement and Storm windows are ideal for use within all bay window formations. Casement windows are hinged and will open outwards and often feature a fixed picture pane. Georgian Sash windows can also be used within a Bay window formation, where the bottom sash usually slides upwards to sit behind the top sash when open.

A bay window can become a key design focal point to any room so it’s important to pay attention to all elements of your window design. Georgian bars or leading detail are often very popular with a bay window and can add some interesting detail to your homes’ aesthetics.

Finishing Touches

Coloured window frames are also something to consider to really add kerb appeal. With more and more people now moving away from white windows, coloured window frames in grey, black as well as more heritage tones are proving to become very popular.

And don’t forget that by adding a Bay window to your home can also bring the addition of a perfect window seat into a room layout. Somewhere to sit and enjoy reading the papers on a lazy Sunday morning, or a niche to perch and watch the world go by.
